Prayer
for Sunday June 29, 2008
Good morning, Lord—it’s so good to see Your face again! We
thank You, O Lord, for Your grace and mercies that are new every
morning! Great is Your faithfulness! We’re continuing our sermon
series on “I Promise” and this morning, Father, we’ll
be talking about toxic relationships. We ask Your blessing upon Pastor
Gene as he brings us the message. The truth is, Father, that ALL of us
have toxic relationships in our life and sadly, most of them are within
our own family—those closest to us! Even when they are no longer
with us, their poison still affects us. In the beginning, Father, You
created us to get along with each other and nature and were commanded
to nurture and care for each other as well as for the earth and
everything that dwells there. But we are a fallen race, leaving us
broken, sinful and in need of a Savior. You’ve brought us
together here to this park this morning, Father, to meet the One Who
can remove all the guilt and pain
and give us a fresh start if we but ask Him. He can be our Rock to hold
to and Who will never let go of us. The hymn writer tells us:
“This Rock is Jesus; Yes, He’s the One; This Rock is Jesus;
The only One!; Be very sure, be very sure; Your anchor holds, and grips
the Solid Rock!” In Jesus name we pray and cling—AMEN
