Prayer for May 19, 2013
Good Morning, Lord—it’s so good to see Your face again! This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! This morning, Father, we’re beginning a new sermon series on being sick and tired and today we’ll be talking about being sick and tired of being single. We ask Your blessing upon Pastor Gene as he brings us the message. You told us in the Garden of Eden, Father, that it isn’t good for man to be alone. But sometimes, Father, for various reasons, we do find ourselves alone. It can be a temporary circumstance or a permanent one but the main thing is our attitude towards whatever You place in our path. You created each one of us for a purpose and sometimes Your purposes are best served when we’re single. Sometimes, Father, You bless us with a life partner in ministry where both of them are so much more effective together than they would ever be separately. The key to being happy and fulfilled is to rejoice and be content in WHATEVER circumstance God places us knowing that He WILL complete the good work He began in us and that He ALWAYS works for our good and His glory to those who love Him. We’re not some matter that was flung out into the universe but children of an awesome God, a loving heavenly Father who will never leave us nor forsake us if we but ask Him into our heart. And so, Father, whenever we feel ourselves drifting into dissatisfaction, and discontent, let us remember the words of the hymn writer: “’Till by faith I met Him face to face; And I felt the wonder of His grace; Then I knew that He was more than just a God who didn’t care; Who lived a-way out there; And now He walks beside me day by day; Ever watching o’er me lest I stray; Helping me to find that narrow way; He’s everything to me.” In Jesus name we pray and believe—AMEN
